Hi,
I’m going to start be giving an answer that seems rational to me. Then I’m going to pose the question. Correct my understanding of the what’s happ’ning.

A: Because you’re mixing apples and oranges. The warning to save the bios is for soft modding. Since you are using a chip, your original bios remains intact. As for the 'C' and 'E' folders, you will be replacing them
and they contain all the information your xbox requires. Regardless if you
have the modchip on or off.

Statement:
I’m warned to save the bios, ‘C’ and ‘E’ for sake of recovery.
When questioned as to how to go about this I am informed to use the auto-installer.
But When I read the pdf manual on auto-installer I’m informed, ‘a note for users with modchips, you will have to make sure that your modchip is flashed with the correct BIOS before you boot this.'

Q: Is this catch-22?

Football soon.

a chipped Xbox, bypasses the original M$ bios by loading it from a chip on the modchip. a softmod, first loads the M$ bios and then through exploits loads a hacked bios from the harddrive. a TSOP Xbox has had the M$ bios overwritten with a hacked bios. and that last part about modchip users must have a proper bios flashed is talking about, you need a modded Xbox to even boot AID

Thanks funkydopeloven,
I thought I was mixing the two together to get one misunderstanding.

Your handle is informative yet easy to remember. Those days are long over for me. But every once and a while I think about having a taste. Smile
