Hi all,
Ive worked very hard along with many new members lately (realmccloy) to make this website the most user friendly and content rich experience for xbox users on the internet. I DO NOT and WILL NOT tolerate flaming on any of my boards and will always try to reply to each and every post if need be.
I have started this thread to see what sort of feedback our VIP members would like to give any newbies thinking of signing up to our VIP Services and Support..
Thanks for your comments and hoping you are all enjoying our hard work (sweat and tears)..

Prior to joining Xbox-HQ, I searched/trolled/posted on a number of websites. Anytine you had a simple question, the responses you'd get usually consisted of "READ, STUPID!". They'd expect you to spend 2 hours searching and reading, when they could just tell you the answer in 2 minutes.
I read and try to learn things for myself, but often I don't have 2 hours to waste on unproductive Googling.
Also, I spent hours and hours searching for BIOS and EvoX.... typical answer: look in "The Usual Sources".... I've said it before and I'll say it again: Xbox-HQ IS the usual source for me!
Couldn't find a nicer, more friendly, more helpful, group of guys and gals!
Since joining over 5 months ago, I now only rarely search other Xbox websites... Xbox-HQ is THE most complete single Xbox source![/b] _________________ The World's Most Awesome Xbox 360 Room

I too only hopped on the HQ express within the last 6 months. I was fresh to the modding scene and afraid to make a post on XB Scene because of all the nastiness that I saw being directed to newer modders asking basic questions.
I was amazed that members there would take the time to type out a hundred word post telling the poor soul that they need to read pinned topics, learn how to use the search feature, read posts, and learn what google means. Why the F didnt' they just type out the freaking answer!!
When I ran into this site my first question was the typical one. What modchip should I get....HA. Who would have thought six months later I would have attained the knowledge that I have and have now chipped 27 machines. Still, I learn more and more each time I login and read the posts. I feel that no matter how knowledgable I am supposed to come off as, I don't mind asking questions. Modding is more than just having the balls to solder. It's knowing when you have to ask a question in order to do something the correct way. Modding is more than tweaking a machine in order to pirate games...it's about maximizing your entertainment dollars for as little as you can. Being able to mod an xbox only adds value to your machine. Sometimes value isn't referring to dollars and cents. At least not the way I look at it.
I honestly say if it wasn't for xbox-hq I would have probably sold my machine two weeks in and never looked back. This is truly a great community. It made me want to find a way to offer modding services that were affordable and complete. Not only did it make me want to offer it, it made it possible for me to do so.
That is why I keep coming back. That is why I contribute as much as I can. I look forward to continuing to do so. Anyone can host files for download, but it takes a great group of people willing to commit time and energy to see to it that information is available to all that need it. So when you decide to donate that 10.00 to become a VIP member, don't do it so you can download files. Do it so this site can continue to provide information. You never know when it's going to be you needing the info!
later all!

Yeah, I think that is definitely what is key here...the ability to get answers. With the exception of soft modding, one way or another the members go great lengths to help each other out.
I can't count how many times I have scoured the internet for over a half hour to learn about a particular fix, or install just so I could assist a member here. Whether they are VIP or just taking advantage of the standard membership info is king here!
Now the ability to have all the files you could ever need to successfully mod your machine, and keep it up-to-date with current homebrew releases is icing on the cake.
Scary thing is, this site is still in its infancy!

I've been a member of this site since the birth of this new layout (May, 2003). I got my Xbox in December, a long gap between the time that I got one and joined the site I know. Basically me and forahobby (the big chief, hehehe) have known each other for years. He's basically the one that persuaded me to get a PC, and then later the Xbox, so I should really thank him for doing this.
I started out on this site just helping out with (S)VCD/DivX related stuff, then when I got my Xbox I progressed a little, It took me a few weeks to really get comfortable with the Xbox and start playing around (I still remember the first time I corrupted the evox.ini file and had to FTP to my box to fix it, hehehe).
After a few months I joined the VIP membership, and a few months later won the change to have my membership upgraded to lifetime. Since then I've been officially promoted to second in change, Co-Admin, and most recently Admin. Throughout this time I've also tried to contribute as much as I can with providing releases (such as the Xbox-Hq EvoX Auto-Installer), and upload new homebrew and patches.
I must definately take my hat off to our third in charge (and recently appointed Co-Admin) RealMccloy, who has basically blown away the whole site with his knowledge and quickness in responding to problems from other members.
There's an old saying "A king's power is the strength of his army", in this case I don't think Forahobby has much to worry about, hehehe. The site has been through bad times over the last few months, but we have all stuck together and tried to make the site run as smooth as possible.
Just to finish, like RealMccloy said, the site is still very young, compared to some of the other sites that are out there (Xbox Scene for example), but just ask anyone who has went there asking for help, you will get friendler support here. We do insist that you read any documentation you can get your hands on to make it a bit eaiser on us (and yourself), but we don't mind helping out complete n00bs that don't have any idea on where to start.

While I was reading that I played an MP3 of "Hail to the Chief"....it went nicely with it!! HA..
Hey DJB...your controller ports are done. Just waiting for the jewel mod kit!!
I ordered on Saturday...NO SHIP YET....
I emailed them last night asking what is up...terrible customer support!
I am going to have to mention to be weary of this company if things don't get any better...it's a shame too cuz their prices are kick ass!

I couldnt agreee more. The sole reason for me becoming a V.I.P was due to the responses I got on my postings.
I was amazed that someone actually not only gave me advice after posting a problem quickly, but also that the suggestion to solve my little ftb dispute with my xbox also helped.
Before posting an aid-post in xbox-hq forum, I had also posted the same question several other places. I got a few tips that where completly of track..and a few, I consider rude replys by moderators telling me my thread is closed, READ THE TUTORIALS AND FAQs!!!..
But the same question here only gave me not only a reply...but when that problem was solved..even tips on how to get further in other matters I wanted to experiment with my xbox (thx DJB )
My simple reason to become a VIP was that I got blown away by the quick, polite and friendly replys you get here. I am still new to all this, but I am learing as I go and xbox-hq even makes it even more fun..because you can ask "silly" questions and ask for help here and actually recive at least a few good guidelines..maybe a link or something to help you along the road.
Respect to you guys! _________________ <o>

We need to rectify this situation. I'm interested in soft modding, but resources seem somewhat limited. _________________ The World's Most Awesome Xbox 360 Room

Before I sent my box off to realmccloy I found some really good tutorials out there that made me confident enough to feel I could softmod my xbox. The only reason I didn't do it is beacuse my dad decided he would rather pay someone to do it right and get it done right instead of me messing my box up. I could search for the Tut's if anyone else wants to read them.
Someone send me their box and I'll do it and become the softmod guy
Just trying to help.

This is my thinking: What would be the risk in trying a Soft Mod? Go to Wal-Mart, buy an Xbox, try a Soft mod--- crap out the Xbox, return it and get another, ad nauseum until it works. Hard mod ---> open Xbox , void warranty, yada yada yada. Hard mod is definitely the best way to go, but I'd like to do a soft mod, mostly for the challenge, but also to be a resource for others.... _________________ The World's Most Awesome Xbox 360 Room

Keep the testimonials coming boys..
Please keep all other discussions in another topic..
Cheers guys,
I spent the last 2 days modding my first xbox and the hardest part of it was just finding basic information and the latest versions of bios, dashboards, etc. Spent a lot of time on xbox scene but never posted out of fear of being flamed. I should have just stayed here where the community isnt waiting for the next poor noob to trash. I just purchased a membership here for this reason. It will be nice to have a place that has everything in one place and people that are willing to help. _________________ XBOX v1.3

I am a firm believer that this forum will alway pose a great place for noobs and experienced alike. The membes, moderators, and admins take great pride in trying to help everyone out no matter how basic or repetative the question may be.
Glad you like the site/service. We need everyone to pitch in with files, news, cheats, reviews, and posts....
