Ok I soft modded a 1 gen Xbox and had no problemos there, i was checking out all the goodies and I ran across an unlock HD so i did and it was a bad thing lol, anyways i downloaded the xboxhd tools and wasnt having much luck to due a brocken ide cable, fixed that, still have a bad floppy drive, could get the eeprom backup onto the 3.5 drive, so i choose to redo the entire xbox drive which went well however i didnt put anyfiles in the ISO i burned So now I have a Dir there but no files ( Ill make a new ISO with Files) but were can i get the original Xbox files i failed to backup? or can i just use the soft mod files? to get the thing going. Or Have I REally messed up;) thanks Todd sorry for the spelling mistakes my wife is yelling at me to hurry up ;(

sorry i didnt quite get it , so you unlocked your hard drive but do you or do you not have a eeprom.bin ? if you have your eeprom.bin then you put it on xbhdm1.9 EEPROM folder and a clean ms dash on the C and burn that disc to an iso then just put a bigger hard drive insted of stock ,

Ok rewrite is.. Im a newbie, I soft modded a gen 1 xbox using the action replay to load auto installer 3.10 deluxe.. all went just as in the tuts! Exploring the new found goodies on the xbox i unlocked the hard drive... the xbox rebooted to a service anoucment.... So I researched on what i have done and it pointed me to locking the hard drive using PWD in the eeprom.. I havent been unsucessfull in pulling the eeprom file and no longer have it....So in the Xboxhd tools i choose to rebuild from scratch and now i have new directories with no files.... I didnt back up the files do to lack of hardware & issues.. thats why i chose to virgin the drive. SO im assuming i need the factory ms dash file to install in those directories to get the box going..... I have extra 80G drive lying around i would love to use if thats what your telling me i can do.....

well if you unlocked your hard drive and all you get is error code 05 everytime you turn on your xbox and without an eeprom.bin then you cant do anyting else as far as software wise so its time to get a chip cuz the ms dash isnt an issue its a eeprom.bin to lock it is the problem and if you lock it with another eeprom you get error 06 so its no good either . however maybe you can put that hard drive ( the unlocked one ) to an xbox that has a modchip so you can aquire its eeprom.bin or someting out of it , im pretty sure since its unlocked and no eeprom.bin you have to get a chip but lets wait for someone to confirm this but im 99% sure . and no aid nor any other disc wont work _________________ |FTP|Useful Links| softmod vs hardmod questions

ok first did you rebild your hd if so your prob sol if not sinc its a softmod thers always a way to fix it i killed my xbox over 30 times when i first started next did you leave the save exploit on the hdd if so your good all you need to do is put the game you used to softmod in start the softmod the same way you did to mod it and revers what you did by locking the hdd

maybe you didnt read right let me highlight it

unlock hd duse not reformat the hd it unlocks it hints the name unlock hd i have a softmod v1.0 xbox had evox unlocked my hd as he did had the eror and relocked it by putting in ma starting the softmod installer going thru file manager staring evoxes xbe then i locked the hd and all was good as i stated iv killed my xbox to many times and have always ben able to fix it as long as you don't freak out and erase the hd you can still get in to it with the softmod installer as long as you can boot games he did say he tried xbhdm but it was not clear to me if he did or did not reformat with xbhdm

based on this even if he manages to lock the drive he'll then start getting error 13 or error 16 when trying to boot. Get a chip is the easiest way and unlocks more features
