I am planning to use a spare XBOX as a router. IOW - boot linux, setup PPPoE + firewall and so on.
I don't play live so I don't care much about MAC addresses and so on.
However is SID comaptible with distros like Xebian?
And if some one have experience with linux under XBOX + SID I will be more than happy if he shares some know-how with me.
I have read all docs in xbox-linux, however I am planning to use SID as a softmod solution.
Some guides - may be to use Xselector to boot linux/evox or..

It is compatible with all, however you must use xromwell.xbe to boot them.
I recomend Gentoox, it's best and it works either native install, or loopback.
However 4 gigs on E or F is necessary for loopback, or native for F must be at least 4 gigs. _________________ Xbox v1.1

not really as a router, more like a linux server, and you can actually have xlink running in it _________________ Xbox v1.1

Why not as a router. In many cases you will use PPPoE, which will give you external ppp0 interface and internal eth0 interface. NAT-ing is done between interfaces. Or you wil have an external USB DSL modem or Ethernet card..
nknave, so I must use xromwell to boot linux?
Is it possible to use XSelect. I have never seen it, but I suppose that it launches desired program if user have not selected other program for given ammount of time?
BTW I suppose that it is possible to do NAT-ing only with one card, to IP addresses and some sofisticated routing

Also, you can't run linux that good on xbox, specially not with fancy desktop enviroments, xfce is the best and is still slow, xdsl is good, but not as complete, and well, you get the idea. _________________ Xbox v1.1

Totally off topic, but I noticed in the downloads section that there is a windows ce.net build for the xbox. Does it work? Well? I'd like to hear if anyone has tried putting it on there. _________________ XBOX v1.6c

Come on.. who runs fancy desktops on his router?
I will set-up some web based administration and that's everything.
I am aware that I cannot run every distro.. however xebian is all I need.
