Go to this section which deals with Xecuter modchips, you may find it more useful and easier for ppl to find your problem.

Is there any reason why this sequence of steps wouldn't work with Dual boot. I seem be able to get the single boot case to work, but not the double boot.

If it's SID 3 you're referring to, you have to make sure you're using the Hacked Dash Loader with dualboot. Check out the SID 3 Manual here:

Hello you all! I've been reading lots of topics before registering. Still I (unfortunately) don't understand some of the steps for softmodding the xbox. I've 2 questions:
1) Why do I have to reboot after installing the MS dash from AID? Can't I just remove everything from C with AID, install the MS dash from AID, install the softmod from AID followed by a hacked dashboard and the MS 5960 patch without reboot?
2) What exactly do the "one click" installers on AID? format C, install softmod with preferred dashboard?
Tnx for the help!

Now, follow these simple steps:
Copy the gamesave over to the unmodded Xbox.
Install a softmod on your xbox, don't worry about the MS Dash as we are going to clean C Drive soon.
Boot Auto-Installer Deluxe v1.01 or higher.
Either using FTP or the File Manager, delete ALL files from C Drive.
Install the MS Dash from Auto-Installer Deluxe.
Reboot
Install softmod AGAIN.
Install your hacked dashboard, or wait to use AID again. If you don't install it now you won't be able to boot your xbox until you do.
Install the MS 5960 patch.
Now it should all be done.

Once your xbox is originally modded, yes you could use the AID disc to do all this in one stage. This method shown below is basically to ensure you have the latest MS Dash on your Xbox, otherwise you may experience problems.

If you're referring to AID 3.0, these one-clicks are set up to install everything you need on C and E Drive (including formatting them to start with), so if you have any current gamesaves on your Xbox, I suggest backing them up beofre using it.
Hope that helps...

Tnx for your fast response, this helps me a lot!
One final question: do I actually need to install the correct version of the MS dash in order to get the softmod working correcly? The reason I'm asking this is because I've read that the softmod installs a hacked dashboard... so why re-installing the MS one?
Tnx in advance for the answer! I also want to thank you for this great site and the great software, great work!

I usually just set it up as normal just in case you need access to the gamesave manager, or any other settings that it has. So, if you want to be as safe as possible, I'd say yes, have the latest MS Dsah installed.
