I would like to back up my saved game data from the XBox to my PC using FTP. What do I need to run on the XBox so that I can connect with the PC? I am using the evox dashboard.

As long as you are in EvoX you can use FlashFXP on your PC to FTP into the Xbox.
It's easier to use a client on your PC than it is to use a client on your xbox. That is probably how 99% of people do it.
You need to configure your settings in the Evox settings menu. Once you have your network settings squared away, and your PC properly connected to your xbox, then you just open FlashFXP and configure it's connection settings to the Xbox. You will use Port 21 and username is xbox and password is xbox.
If you use a router, a regular CAT5 network cable will work fine. If you don't have a router then you will need to use a crossover cable.

I checked the settings and they appear to be OK. I get no reply when I ping the xbox port. I am connecting through a LinkSys 10/100 router. I will probably try getting a crossover cable and go straight into the PC unless you have any suggestions. Thanks. _________________ XBOX v1.0

hi steve69,
To get your xbox working through your router you will need to find out what your pc's IP ADDRESS is and other network settings..
GET YOUR PC INFO:
1. Click 'Start Menu' then Click on 'Run'
2. Type 'cmd' on nt/2k/xp or 'command' on 95/98/me and then press enter.
3. When the command prompt window comes up type 'ipconfig /all' and then press enter.
4. Copy and Paste all your IP CONFIG INFORMATION into your reply post.
Thats it.. Once you get back to me with your info we will give your XBOX a STATIC IP ADDRESS on the same subnet and ip range of yoUR PC/ROUTER..
Then you are ready to go..
last tip:
If you are using a firewall. Turn it off until you successfully can ftp into your xbox.. THen you can configure it later..
IMPORTANT:
Dont forget to always scroll to the bottom of the page and choose 'SAVE & EXIT' before rebooting your xbox..
Once you have rebooted your xbox you should be able to ftp into your xbox using FLASHFXP perfectly..
Just Create a NEW SITE in FLASHFXP and enter these settings and press the connect button..
ip: 192.168.1.2
port: 21
username: xbox
pass: xbox

IF YOU STILL CANT ACCESS YOUR XBOX VIA FTP TRY
DISABLING YOUR FIREWALL UNTIL YOU GET IT WORKING!

Hopefully the firewall won't be a problem since port 21 (the port used for FTP) is a common port. It would only more than likely be disabled if it was done manually.
But still, it was good to mention it.

Hm, OK...
The only possibility I can think of is you might be using transfering from an actual PC FTP to your Xbox.
FTP to FTP transfers (or FXP as it's called) is something I never really got working 100% with my PC and Xbox, so I just use a normal FTP transfer between my PC and Xbox.
Confused?
I'll try and break it down a bit...
Try this out... On the left-hand side of the screen, select your Computer. Make sure you're not connecting to a FTP for it, we only need the normal windows directories. On the right, connect to your Xbox FTP.
Hopefully you understand this and it's not a bunch of gibberish to you
Hope it helps...

Are you using FLASHFXP ftp client to access your xbox. That is the only ftp client that i recommend..
