I am having problems flashing the X-Chip. Do I need to change the .rar to a .bin file to flash.
I tried using a CD rom, but the xBox came up with a reading error.
Any help is appreciated

Hi Bill,
You need to download and install WINRAR (http://www.winrar.com) onto your PC.. Then you can EXTRACT The files from inside the .rar file..
Once you extract the file you will get a .bin file.. You can then use this file to flash your xbox modchip. I think i replied to your VIP Support TicKET too mate.

There's the reason why I love the Xenium Chips. I love flashing from the DVD drive. However, I also have a Samsung and have never ran into any media issues.
I just did a few mods over the weekend for some members here and here's how strange it can be with these damn machines.
One machine had a Phillips Drive. I popped in my Xecuter2 4983.67 bios CD that I burned to a Memorex DVD+R to flash and all went perfect.
The next machine I got was also sporting a Phillips drive. I took the same DVD+R and it would not read it to save my life. I tried so many different brands of CDRW's and DVDR's. I wasted 30.00 on the crap.
I ended up having to take out my Samsung that is in my machine and put in this one. Then, after I flashed it I ran the autoinstaller. When I swapped my DVD Drive back I suddenly realized that I forgot to lock the HD. For shits and giggles I tried my autoinstaller and it read it fine!
Then, yesterday I chipped a machine that has the dreaded Thompson Drive. It read my bios CD first try!! No swapping needed!! Same DVDR disk, different result.
I'm definitely taking forahobby's advice and buying a Samsung to have around just in case I run into that issue again. Beats taking mine out!!

Thanks for the help. Problem seems to be solved.
Next problem. I tried downloading Slayer Auto installer. I am getting an error converting the file eai13f archive, states there is an error in the file. Am I doing something else wrong

Hi,
Make sure you are running the latest version of WINRAR..
Available here: http://www.winrar.com
I noticed too that i got errors on extracting the file but it works 100% fine anyway..
Thanks for all your help. afer spending about two weeks working on this, reading many articles and learing about .rar and .iso files, I finally was able to get the Xbox set up. My son is very happy. Using the X-chip, and one of the executer bios's, with the Xbox HQ autoinstaller all is Fine. I can now get back to my day job.
Again, thanks for the help
