ok i have the X3 modd chip with front console. I just installed a new 160g hhd and all working fine. I used the disable modd chip and boot normal dash option in the bios and went to log on xbox live to update maps of sort. well i keep getting this error.

Your xbox console cannot communicate with xbox live because the software or hardware may have been modifided. see www.xbox.com/connect for more information.

well i used the xboxhdm_v1.9 soft ware to make a from scratch hdd and formated c,e and f partitions. installed the dash on see and used my eeprom to lock the drive. Put it in the box and all fine. Untill i tried the option as stated. before i installed the hdd i used my old drive with all the same modds to connect fine. What gives?

if you have alread been on the XBOX LIVE service with your old hdd then they have recorded the serial number.. Sad

The next time you go on and dont have this hdd installed you will be banned.
Thats how i believe it works.

If you had never been online using your RETAIL small hdd then it would have worked just fine.. Any one else confirm this??

You can't login because your eeprom is also banned.

Nope because the codes for the eeprom and the hard drive wont match. It has something to do with the 'marriage theory' I think.
