Guys,

I'd be grateful for any advice here - I think I killed the audio output on my xbox but can't believe it was this easy...

All I did was unplug & re-insert the a/v cable while the power was on; it's a standard cable w/ optical output, not hi-def cable. The sound was fine before, it's dead now.

I tried the original xbox a/v cable again with no joy, and have double-checked the amp and optical cables anyway and they're all fine. All the system settings look fine too.

Have I really blown something or have i missed something obvious?

Cheers

Rich

Does your tv still give sound?
does the sound and video come from A/V cable? if it does then it could be the cable which doesn't work, test with a different cable.

I believe it's the cable which is burnt.

Are you going into a "Home Theater" or just a TV?
1. Double check all of your inputs are set correctly.
2. Get a flashlight and look at the cable ind the connector on the Xbox, look for any marks on the contacts.

Is your Xbox modded?
If yes, how?
If no, has it been opened before? (check the stickers on the bottom.)

Please tell us what you find.
