So you get your new chip or have had it for awhile and you get 3 reboot frag. Depending on your Xbox version there are a couple things to try, if you are sure you have tried everything to verify the install is not the problem.
First for versions 1.0 to 1.4 is your recovery switch on the chip. Make sure you have already made a recovery disc and placed it in the DVD. When it boots you should see the recovery screen, a picture of the old Blue Xenium chip, then you will see the word Loading, then either GOT FROM HDD, or HALT. If you see GFHDD then the Xenium LED will cycle colors and power off. If you get HALT then burn another recovery disc and try again. Check here for tips http://www.teamxodus.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=4922http://www.teamxodus.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=12562
For a 1.6 you follow the same steps, but you will not see the recovery screen, but you should see the lights cycle. At the end the Xbox will power off or the Xbox LED will go to solid red. If it goes solid red try another disc. For a 1.6b you will need another pre 1.6b Xbox to recover the OS.
If on the 1.0 to 1.4 you see no screen, on the 1.6 the Xenium LED doesn't cycle colors, or you still get 3 reboot frag, then try this. With a recovery disc in the dvd, power on with the eject button, but instead of just pressing it hold it down until the tray ejects, then quickly close the tray. This should force a recovery to run and you should see the described results listed above.
If you still are getting 3 reboot frag, then you may want to take a look at the install again. I have recieved literally hundreds of "dead chips" with this problem and only 3 or 4 now have actually been bad, the others turned out to be bad OS and a problem with the install that kept them from recovering.
To check you install examine the following pins connection to the LPC: 7, 8, 10, and 11. Look for a bad solder joint or a stuck pogo pin. For a 1.6 LPC rebuild check both nds of the wires. _________________ 1.6b, Xenium !ce OS 2.3.0, External 160g WD, External 250g Seagate, Double blade UFO Fan over Jewel
