what is the effect of erasing the master file table?
Is there a copy of a master file table in case of destruction, etc.?

Tell me, did you know everything from birth or were you educated?
The fat system did have a duplicate. But then, you knew that. You know everything.
I did ask for a reason. Mostly confirmation. I was hesitant because I thought I might get a sarcastic response. Thanks for confirming my knowledge of some people on the internet. _________________ Xbox V1.1 120G

btw, you cannot backup the partition table, and expect it to be restored when the partitions has been lost.
Anyways, a way to fix this is, is either chip or using xboxhdm.
PS: If this question was pointless, and you didn't really needed help, go to www.xbox-scene.com , they are less friendly than we are here, and trust me you'll get flamed for anything. _________________ Xbox v1.1

No, the question was not pointless.
I thought this was the forum to choose to ask questions re: computers.
I downloaded a pgm to wipe the disk. It's default was to wipe the MFT.
I thought that was peculiar as a default. It should kill the system to
remove the MFT. Knowing that I choose to 'clean' the system with the default set to 'wipe' the MFT. The actions implied to me that it did not wipe the MFT i.e. the machine still functioned. So I thought I could ask
someone who knows more than I for an answer. I can go on as to why I thought it important but that would be pointless.
The copy of the fat was a systems function. It was done design.
A quality education should leave one with the unspoken lesson that:
one was not taught, nor does one know, everything.
Thanks for your time. _________________ Xbox V1.1 120G
