Stick with it.. I had the same problem when i wanted to exchange my Xbox Jewel.. The Aluminium portion does come out but not without some mucking around.

Don't worry, it's not too hard I've done this myself. I ben back the metal tabs on the shielding and then just ripped it off. Then I carefully heated the back of the plastic to take off the jewel. Drilled a hole in the top of te case and hot glued in place my cusyom jewel boughtfrom here http://shop.craxtion.com/?type=intl&content=home. Then put a cold cathode underneath which is getting its power from the hard rive and put it all back together. The glow looks amazing. It's well worth the effort _________________ V1.4 Xbox

thanks mate i can take it off no probs. With it being a clear xbox do you think using the neon cathode LED off the fan and just taping it under neath the jewel will be ok.I dont want to drill holes into it.Im just gonna freeze the jewel off.

I should think that would work. I have a crystal xbox as well which is why I drilled the hole. I did it just underneath the cold cathode so that it can barely be seen as I didn't want any tape or wires showing but your way would work as well.

Oops I forgot to sign in. Anyway I don't think I understood your post fully when I last replied. I thought you were talking about me drilling through the shielding. I took my cathode of a fan as well as it is just the right size but the hole is necessary is you want a custom jewel. If you are just going to clear your xbox one then the light should come through fine but most of the custom ones like mine are deeper and without the hole they will not fit. _________________ V1.4 Xbox
