ok, I had someone else soft mod my xbox a while back with a 120 GB HD. Now I got a 250 GB and I want to switch them out, but he's charging me too much, so I figured I'd learn how to do it myself. I dont have a DVD burner, so I can't do it the way shown in the tutorials on the site! I know for a fact that my xbox was soft modded without using a DVD burner. If anyone can tell me how, or link me to a tutorial to put this new HD in, I'd much appreciate it!

Backing up your eeprom saves an image of the eeprom to the hard drive. I'm not farmiliar with those dashes but my guess it would be somewhere in the system settings. It should say something like backup or load eeprom or save eeprom. Be sure NOT to update, over write, delete, or alter the orig eeprom in any way. _________________ Xenium Ice 2.3.1 OS

Let me give you the same advice that the admins here at Xbox-hq kindly gave me when i asked the same question. Go to the downloads section and download xboxhdm. It is a linux operating system that you burn onto a cd or dvd and boot your pc with it using only the cd or dvd rom drive on the pc and DISCONNECT ALL of the other drives in your pc, and in their place connect the original 120GB HDD in place of the master HDD in the pc and connect the 250GB HDD in place of the slave HDD in the pc, that is if you use. I case you don't know, the master drive is the connection at teh END of the IDE ribbon and the slave is going to be the connection in the middle of the ribbon. The other end is obviously connected into the motherboard. Do all of this after writing the xboxhdm cd or dvd using the program in windows first. when you have burnt the disk and set up the configuration of drives, boot your pc with the cd or dvd in the drive and it'll boot into a linux operating system. It should be fairly simple from there on, considering it is all laid out in plain english, but JUST IN CASE, look for a tutorial in the tutorials section. I'm telling you this to cover my ass. Not that your'e going to f#&@ everything up, but it's just better to get it done right the first time. Trust me on this, this program is fuckin BRILLIANT. It can make an exact clone of ANY xbox HDD.
Good luck

ok, my friends computer(I needed it for the CD-burner) can't run batch files correctly, so I had to wait until today...
final checklist:
- in the required toolsl it says I need the EvoX dash, will UnleashX work?
- also in the required tools section, it says I need DVD Decryptor, but nowhere in the steps does it say to use it
-(step #7)how to I set my computer to first that it's first boot is CD-Rom?

1. Not familiar with unleash.
2. In the mode menu select iso-write
3. the boot options is in the bios. to get to that watch you computer screen. it will be the del, esc, or f1 key to enter setup. _________________ Xenium Ice 2.3.1 OS
