Okay, this is my first time doing this, and I have been messing with it for a few days now. It's 1 am and I don't feel like reading anymore to try find my fix!! Anyways here's the problem. I moded with the X-chip. I have a v1.6 Xbox and soldered everything that needed to be with visually and continuity tested connections. (I tested either side of the connection.) Then booted up and got crap. Loaded EvoX v1.3 for X-chip and rebooted. No more Christmas light show. Then ejected the dvd drive, and got a quick EvoX dashboard, and then the error code 16. This is supposedly the Dashboard error code. Also, the Green and Red lights started blinking again but slower. I followed the directions on the website to create an ISO of the default.xbe, evox.ini, bios folder, skins folder, and 55Mb of junk data. I used a Ritek 4x dvd+r and burned at 2.4x. tried to load it and got the same thing as before. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm gonna grab some Z's for now though.

Welcome, Abo!
You MUST be tired... because you posted in the softmod discussions forum, but you're not doing a soft mod!
If you don't get any useful repsonse here, try reposting in "Newbie Central"... it's very active and you'll likely get a quicker response there.

What dvd drive do you have in your xbox? I have a xenium and had the same problem...the dvd+rs will read but only for less then a minute then the xbox cant read them. I would suggest using a dvd+r (had best success with them) or a cd-rw. Remember the xbox doesnt like to read cheap media...you have to spring for the exspensive stuff (ie memorex). Hope that helps. _________________ Xbox v1.0

I have not changed the DVD drive yet. I would like to get it up and working a little before I start doing all that extra. Actually, I'm in Sierra Vista, and I'll just bring you the board tomorrow. How's 5 sound! But hopefully I can figure this out sooner or later.

Actually, I think my box is hosed. I found a revised version of the install guide specifically for the x-chip v1.6 install, and the first thing is says is to be sure you flash a new Bios, or it could severely damage both the xbox and the chip. Would have been nice if they put that in the master guide, or even posted that revision to their website. I'm a little upset that they wouldn't put that type of information in the guide they advertise on their website. I went through 2 xboxes now thinking I screwed them up. I have bought a new chip, and I will make sure I find the proper guide. I appreciate your willingness to help though.
