well i been playing with my avalaunch a little bit and have discovered the dash has a built in DVD player! and not only that but it appears to make almost full use of the M$ controller if you have it. if you were like me and didn't know about his feature go to Settings->Main Options and enable the third setting, Faiden DVD Skin. i also disabled the top 2 options so that disks don't autoplay but i pick it from the main menu.
a few other tidbits: You can check for and download the latest releases of Avalaunch by selecting Settings on the main menu and scrolling all the way to the bottom. when you select Update Avalaunch it will take you to the next page where it will check your current version and let you know if you are up to date.
it is also possible to download/update Xbox Media Player (and some other programs like ConfigMagic) by going to Settings->Network and selecting Download.
Also Avalaunch has built in a online gaming network called Xlink Kai. i haven't had the chance to mess with it yet though but from what i read its on a pretty nice setup.(also needs to be running on your pc)
Change the color of your LEDs with avalaunch. Settings-> Main Options->Misc Info. you can change the leds to be red, green, orange, or off
you can connect to #xbins and download directly to your xbox! i was gonna write a tut but i found one much better than i could have done. Here
one more! play internet radio in Avalaunch dash! to good to be true?? oo its real. go Settings->Sounds->Background Music and change the play music on boot to Shoutcast. now go back to the main menu and click the left joystick down! there is only one that plays but if you go into the file manager and go C: ->Shoutcast there will be a .sc file. (you might be able to open it directly on your xbox, i used to be able to open .xml but i can't anymore, what app am i missing?) i had to FTP to my computer to edit, but this is prolly best as it makes it easier. i changed the http that was in the sample to this one :
Code:
http://64.236.34.97:80/stream/1071
a hiphop station. if you want some help finding a particular genre of music post and we can compile a listing of stations. also of note that if the link breaks avalaunch will freeze supposedly, if that happens i think you will need to boot an autoinstaller and use the filemanager to delete the .sc file. will have more knowledge on that if it ever happens to me
anyways hope this has been of some help!!

ps ooo Acam is not currently working, it wasn't just me!
pss the Avalaunch crew are also currently working on Scandisk and a disk defragmenter aswell! look forward to them in future releases.

The day they bring out disk defrag is the day I'll probably start using Avalaunch. This is a feature I've been waiting for since I started a year ago.
Very nice review too I may add...
You deinfately make me think twice about avalaunch now, but in the meantime I'm gonna stick with unleashx, the only dashboard strong enough to handle AID (hehehe).

You can also do a XBOX to XBOX copy which works really well. I was getting about a constant 11 MEGS/SEC. Transfered over 60 Gigs of roms from one xbox to another across my lan in less than 1 Hour! Or copy a full version of Halo2 in like 7 minutes. They're susposed to be a more intregrated software download Team Avalaunch is working on. Currently if you download an app it saves it in your E:\Apps directory. You can move it to your F:\Apps drive if you have a large hard drive. Not to mention redoing the entire source code. Still waiting on that disk fragmentor.
Another thing I wanted to add was with the XBOX to XBOX copy is a very powerful tool. You can ftp into a server straight from your XBOX and download the files. I once ftp into a server in Brazil and I'm in the US to get some Mame roms. I'll post the link if the server is still up. I think you should be able to ftp into the ftp server here at XBOX-HQ as well. I'll try it when I get home later.

yea i originally transfered everything to my xbox by hooking it up to another xbox over a LAN, and speeds were upwards of 10+ Mbs. directly though Avalaunch! very nice! with both xbox's on the main screen, go to the file manager on the box you want the files transfered to and go on the RIGHT side and push start and select Switch to Remote. it should auto detect the other xbox!
another thing to add is when you go to select a game off your hdd you push start on the game and it brings up a submenu where you can edit the title of the game aswell as download gamesaves for the game directly from xbox-saves.com!
you can also download skins directly onto your xbox, by Settings->Skins->Online Skins

Yes that game save does come in Handy. Most of these features are also on UnleashX. I just like the layout of Avalaunch better so I use it as my main dash.
Update: I just tested it and I was able to log into the VIP's FTP server in Avalaunch. You can download files directly from your XBOX in Avalaunch. I just downloaded an X2 bios to test. You can only download files thou, can't upload.
Replace the values with the one you want and you're done.

Avalaunch is an incredible dashboard. I think I need to start using this puppy a little bit more. I have been reading up on some of it's features and I am extremely impressed.
Is there any avid avalaunchers that can point out some of the bad things about this dashboard??

it likes to freeze if you try to load a program like XBMC while the xbox is downloading something off the net

That avatar is a friggin howl..
HA..
Avalaunch was the first dash I ever used, I only got away from it because Evox was so much simplified when I first got into modding, I never went back to it after.
Definitely going to install that as my primary dash now.

Try reducing the number of icons you have. They take up system resources. Just rename "avalaunch_Icon.png" to "avalaunch_Icon.png.bak" or something like that and give it a shot. _________________ XBOX V1.4/Xcuter 2.3 Lite B
