I replaced the tri-color LEDs on the power/eject board with RGB LEDs, ran wires to the Xternal LED module connected to my Xenium, and with the handy-dandy OS 2.3.0, I now have programmable, color-shifting, front panel LEDs!
I didn't lose my original status LEDs, though. Above the eject button, I drilled three 5mm holes. I mounted one of the tri-color LEDs and wired it to the p/e board, so I still have my red/green/amber status LED, plus a HD activity LED, and a LAN activity LED.
