xp error: php.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close
I have gotten this error over and over after setting up and installing apache, php and mysql on my windows xp iis box..
Its only a development box but i needed it to code for the site etc before i upload so i had to find the prob..
No matter how many times i rebooted or played with the php.ini file it didnt work.. But on my windows 2000s machine there wasnt a problems?? (weird)..
So anyway, i decided last of all before removing it to check for a newer version of php...
I found a newer version and installed it directly over my old install which was under c:/apache/php/
did a quick reboot and whooo hooo. all fixed..
anyway, this is for all those guys searching the net and cant find the answer to this simple question..

How do i fix this error on my Windows XP machine?

Answer is:
Your php version isn't comptible with your WINDOWS XP IIS version..
Download the latest version of php..

Being new to this, I'd really like some help with the steps to setting up a development box at home. I'm not really coding a site right now, but want to leran the ins and outs of php, mysql, etc.
I'd also like to know the pitfalls I might encounter using Windows XP to do it.

sorry i didnt see that post.. Ive been busy prob just like you all...
If ya want to setup a Development server on xp i can email you what ya need. (its just a package to install)..
So this is what you have to do before emailing or pm me for the package:
Setup IIS (internet Information Services) on your Windows XP machine and get it working with the self installed demo site.. (you call this from your webbrowser once you have installed IIS and started the service).
http://localhost/ or http://yourcomputername/
once you get the normal .asp .htm etc server running you will have to stop this service..
Then contact me and i will send you the install ready to go for your winxp/me/98 machine..
This package will install:
- apache
- php4.0 (or something higher cant remember)
- mysql
