Posted: Sat Mar 04, 2017 1:51 pm Post subject: Xbox Classic Games not starting - rebooting to Dashboard
Hello together!
I'm using a Xbox Classic v1.4 with Xchanger V2 (BIOS: X2 5035) and the latest Avalaunch Dashboard.
I'm new to xbox modding and I was glad that I could play emulators on my 1TB HDD.. but sadly every game won't work. Even from DVD or HDD.. after starting the game it reboots to the dashboard and that's totally annoying.
I've tried different Dashboards like EvoX or UnleashX but on every dashboard it reboots after starting the game.
With the Auto-Installer I've formatted the whole HDD and installed the Dashboard with the Modchip Dashboard Installer option. The funny thing is, that the Xbox is starting the Auto-Installer from DVD, but not any game.. But I'm able to copy the games to HDD with DVD2XBOX.
I'm running on PAL I, in the Xchanger Menu it's on PAL too.
I don't know what's the problem... please, could anyone of you help me?

EDIT:
Okay I tried to start the Auto-Installer Disc again and it only starts the disc when I'm totally rebooting the xbox. But not when I'm already in the dashboard. When I press "Launch DVD" there, it reboots to the dashboard too.. so it only starts DVDs when I'm not booting into the dashboard and I cannot start any games (but emulators) from my F drive.

I'm thinking a BIOS issue if its not some problem with the chip.
You need specialist help with this and Xbox chips/BIOS problems are nothing I have had any direct practical experience fixing. Sorry.
Also I doubt you'll get any help here on this matter, you really need to find a more active forum.
This is the sort of matter Rocky5 can probably help you with. He does come here occasionally, I think under a different username. But if you do a bit of Googling you should be able to find him in various places or another still active Xbox guru who might be able to help.

First thing to try for this problem is to delete everything in E:\Cache, and the X:\, Y:\ and Z:\ drives. Usually that fixes issues with games hanging or rebooting on boot. _________________

If it is that I'd be surprised and interested to know. I thought the deleting the cache solution was only applicable for particular games ie. where the cached information stored on X, Y or Z had been corrupted.
In this case it is all games and apparently some other discs that are rebooting to the UX dash.
But it is certainly worth trying. Hope it does work.

Hey guys!
Thanks for your answers. I already tried the Cache and X, Y, Z option but I had no success..
I've tried my original 80GB which worked some weeks ago without any issues with the same BIOS and this hdd doesn't work too now, same problem here..
Everything works from the HDD except starting games.. I'm so damn confused and I really don't know how to fix this..
Yesterday I've formatted the whole HDD with Auto-Installer Deluxe V4.5 and re-installed the Dashboard with Apps and no matter what I'm trying.. Games won't work.

So when you start a game from both a DVD or from the hard drive the Xbox instantly reboots to the dashboard? No game logo in between or anything? _________________

Games starting from DVD when I force reboot it but not from Dashboard. No matter which Dashboard is in use..
