So I'm hoping to upgrade from an unknown SID to the nice SID 5.11 so I can properly get HD to work on my XBOX. I currently have EvoX installed with some version of SID. I believe I have multi boot because if I press power, it boots to EvoX, if I press open disc, it boots to SID. How can I properly install SID 5.11 without losing any files/gamesaves?
I believe I just need to ftp the splinter cell game saves, restore the MS Dash, load splinter cell, load the saves, install softmod choose multi-boot, open tray=SID, power=hacked dash(evox) with HD.
Two problems here. 1, do I choose HD or RGB? I have the component RGB cables, but more importantly I have an HDTV and I want to run surreal 64 and xbox games at 720p.
2, will I lose ANYTHING during this process?

To remove the old version of SID you should just be able to boot to the SID menu (with eject) and I believe there should be a remove option. If not, just pop in the game you originally used to mod it and remove it that way (providing that you still have the SID gamesave file still on your Xbox).
Then it should be just as easy as putting the new SID files on, booting up the game, and installing it. I've never used RGB so I can't say for sure, but I would imagine that you would choose HD + RGB. There might be something about it in the SID 5.11 manual, so make sure to read over that PDF before you go and install it. _________________

Do you know if I would lose any gamesaves or files? I would prefer to keep my progress in my games and roms.

Burn the ISO to disc, Now go into your UDATA folder and copy your saves to another folder, follow this video to replace the current SID, with SID5, then copy your saves back to the UDAT folder (be sure to check the folders and delete the 2 associated with the previous mod)
If you have a shodow C you may beforced to boot the softmod menu and disable it first.
If you have a PC with IDE ports you can also use Autobuilder, just FTP off your saves and add them to the UDATA folder in xboxhdm-linux-Pimped-E and follow the video I include with the download. This will also install a bunch of emulators with ROMs the March release of XBMC and give you a choice between, Evox, Ava, UnleashX and XBMC as dash

(again be sure not to include the 2 folders asociated with the previous mod[/youtube]

That method seems more extreme than I need to be. I'm just more concerned with what will happen if I press restore MS backup. Will my Xbox turn back to completely normal, not softmodded? Ontop of that, will I lose any data, such as ROMs, Emulators, gamesaves, games burned to the HDD, etc. I just need to know what to backup so I can restore it after.
Also, why does it only say to backup the UDATA, what about TDATA?
Final question, do I want a virtual C or no? I don't believe I have been using one for the past 5 years so I don't plan on starting now.
So far I have backed up my UDATA and TDATA folders, what about my F drive? will I lose anything there? I suppose I just need to know what I will lose in this process.

TDATA has nothing to do with saves, its associated with soundtracks (ie when you would rip a CD to an unmodded XBOX). The methods I posted wont touch the F drive. They may seem extreme but it is whats required to do a clean upgrade to the newest SID. If you go the restore root you will need to re mod your XBOX. Your best bet for a quick and painless switch to a newer exploit is what I posted. The absolute best is to use Autobuilder as it will format the C and E drives and upgrade you to NKPatcher12 which I have as yet not released in gamesave format

So I watched your video again, I'm an idiot. I see that only udata and tdata get erased. Instead of erasing those, can't I just overwrite them? Tdata also includes my dlc which I would like to keep.
Also, what state does your method leave my Xbox in? The video appears to show some sort of dashboard with a video in the background. Is that just a skin for xbmc or whatever it is that you are running? If I wanted to install evox instead of xbmc, could I just press open try to get to sid5 then choose install evox? Also does this give me the option of choosing rgb or hd?

Yeah its just a skin, I make video skins for UnleashX. Just copy the Udata and Tdata to another folder. then copy them back after the fact. But like I said be sure to delete the mod files from the old mod. If unsure just boot the M$ Dash and go to memory and delete them that way. With E22 you wont lose anything, just upgrade to a newer mod, where as Autobuilder will format the HDD so if you havent backed up you will lose that content. Honestly the Autobuilder route is the best route but it does take more work and more time.

Your way appears to install a shadow C which I currently do not use. Is there a reason I should use a shadow C?
I'm thinking about using your E22 method, but I'm worried I may not have enough room for the shadow C on my E drive. Could I follow your steps then using the SID menu, reinstall the softmod and choose not to use a shadow c?
I think what I would like to do the most is restore my system to stock, then remod using splinter cell and CID5.11, choose dual boot open tray=sid, power=evox dash, no virtual c, hd support. My question is, will restoring my system to stock erase my games from my E or F drive?
PS, what is the recommended way to restore to stock? I have read I can use slayers evox auto installer to install a stock dashboard, is this correct? Or is there a better way?

Neither of my ways install a shadow C, Im not sure where you got that from, but I dont waste space with that since Live is dead and its useless. Forget Slayers, its the horse and buggy of XBOX. If you want up to date you want one of my installers. I update my stuff monthly. 5.11 is a waste since it will install an old XBMC.

Thanks, I thought it would put shadow C on there because at about 4:35 in the video, when copying the E drive contents, it shows a file titled shadowc.img being copied over. From what I have been reading, if there is no shadow c installed, then what is that file doing there, especially since it appears to take the longest to copy, so I'm assuming it is a pretty big file.
It took about 80 seconds to copy that file at about 3600 KBps which I'm estimating comes to about a 280MB file? Are you sure there is no shadow C?
EDIT: went ahead with your E22 method, works great. HD is working perfectly, the dash is running in 1080i and games are in 720p.

That file is there because its part of the SID gamesave and I left it so if people choose to enable Shadow C they can. But in the mod you get using E22 its not enabled. Other than to keep people from deleting files on the C drive the shadow c is pretty much useless since Live is dead so theres nothing to hide when it comes to XBOX. The files that go to your XBOX is exactly the same as what you would get with doing a single boot mod via SID5 gamesave.

Hypothetically speaking, if I wanted more room, I could delete that file right?

Yeah, it shouldnt cause any issues. Only time doing that would cause a problem is if you were trying to transfer the save file to another XBOX for modding because it wouldnt match the digital signature
