hi,
First, a confession : my XBOX knowledge has disappeared over the years, I recently brought my XBOX back from the dead (/dust), just to try out the HD output and bring back some memories.
While I was at it, I managed to get HD output and thought of upgrading my EvolutionX dashboard > searched online, found AID and burned the DVD. Read through the manual while doing this and after the burn, I installed the EvolutionX dash. I saw an evoxdash.xbe pass by (I think) so thinking it should be a piece of cake, I returned back after the installation + restarted the XBOX. Unfortunately, it now goes through the XECUTER2 process and reboots after the XBOX logo.
So : what's happening? Did I select something in the menu I shouldn't have? Any way to check for the cause or solve this issue?
thanks!!!

So its boot looping? Did you accidentally install the softmod version of the dashboard instead of the modchip version? _________________

Doh! Thanks Darth > that might be it indeed Shame engulfs me at this very moment but oh well...
I'll try it out again in a few minutes (going upstairs in a few secs to catch some sleep) and will be updating this tomorrow with the outcome.
But thanks again!

Tried it again last night : went into the 3rd option (modchip one-click installs) and tried the EvolutionX and the Avalaunch options > both had the same result (XBOX rebooting).
Had a look with the file explorer and there's something installed alright in the c: drive...
Did I screw it up with selecting the 4th option before? The Softmod One-click installs?

Grab Spoof Disc Xtreme and cold boot the XBOX with it, use its filemanager to check where the dash is installed to, then replace it with the dash of choice off Spoof Disc

Sorry that I never replied. I'm very busy with school and I lose track of posts that I have replied to.
Anyways, what I would do is delete all files off of your C:\ drive and then reinstall the microsoft dashboard. Then turn off the Xbox and see if it will boot to the MS dash. If it won't do that, then this is a bigger problem than the dash.
It could also be possible that your X2 bios is looking for a dashboard on the E:\ partition. I can't imagine why that would be causing a boot loop though. _________________

@ SPVV : thanks so much, currently downloading that spoof disc, will take another 2 hours so I'll try it out as fast as my line permits it More info will follow for sure...
@ darth : no worries at all! And no need for apologies, school is first [and foremost] more important than anything else (it all starts with a proper education) and I'm also guilty of the same thing : I also forget stuff So no harm done whatsoever, I appreciate your guy's help...
Thanks also for the suggestion, I'll first try that spoof disc and if that doesn't work out, I'll try and erase my C: drive (don't think it's booting from the E: if my memory serves me correctly)

Spoof Disc also has stock dash files if you end up needing to replace your C drive. And has evox, unleashx, avalaunch, and xbmc for dashboards, emus w/roms and can install xbmc as app. Hope it works for you, good luck

Woohoo! It worked!!! Just for posterity and for all those struggling with the same problem (only kidding!) : this is what I did :
1. had a look first with the file explorer (using AID) > evoxdash.xbe could indeed be found on the C: drive, my E: was just filled with movies and series... Of 2006 I think...
2. launched the SPOOF disc, couldn't find a direct installer for the dashes so I looked around with the file explorer again > found a directory with the 4 dashes, went for the UnleashX (as it booted correctly when launched from the SPOOF disc).
3. copied the evoxdash.xbe to the C: root, along with the CONFIG.XML and the ITEMS.XML > removed the disc, rebooted and bam! It worked!!!
So first : thanks guys for the help... Again...
And I am starting to think there's a "bug" in AID, that my choice of dash doesn't copy all the files needed? Or that the evoxdash.xbe is perhaps corrupt? Just guessing of course...
Oh well, it works so thanks again!!!

AID should work fine...if you go to install dashboard section and choose evox and then install to C:\ it should have worked fine. Although, I've only ever installed UnleashX with AID (because that is my dash of choice), so I can't really speak for Evox.
Either way I'm glad you got your problem fixed. Sorry again for not replying a month ago _________________

Glad Spoof Disc worked for you. The thing with apps like AID is they use so much XML coding that its hard not to make a typo here or there and just one typo can cause something integral not to copy properly or at all. Thats why I set Spoof Disc up more like a Windows Explorer copy and paste. I went through it with Emu Installer being a scripted app and kept making little typos and was ready to tear my hair out trying to get it just right

@ darth : and again : no worries at all I appreciate your help tremendously. Without your suggestions, I would still be struggling.
@ SPVV : I have a day off today, I think I'll be looking into AID and see what's going wrong exactly (if it's just XML, I should manage / especially as I now know what files are needed to get that XBOX started). But again thanks for your SPOOF disc > nice piece of work

Theres actualy gonna be a new kid on the block soon. Im in testing stages of XBMC-App Installer. Its a fully scripted app like AID and is gonna be the replacement for Spoof Disc. Packs a pimped out XBMC, softmod and dash install support. You can see more about it here http://www.xbox-hq.com/html/postt26425.html

Guess who just clicked on the link you mentioned?
I only need to dig up the details of the FTP site (not a regular of these forums) but I'll certainly be downloading this as soon as I find out where to download it. And it goes without saying that I wish you all the luck with it and yes, it's a brilliant idea (especially as you said yourself that AID isn't updated anymore).
