Hey guys, so.......I finally got my Xbox running in HD with the help of everybody here and some googling! So now I'm curious as to how people get HD video streaming on their Xboxes. My shares are all set up and I can access my Video folder on my PC over the network no problem. My specs:
Xbox modded with SID5 Pimped v7
Ethernet link from Xbox to Router
Ethernet link from Router to PC
I recently got a large television so I've been downloading everything in HD. Most of them are mkv's which are stuttery and jittery. Now, a simple google tells me this is pretty common with mkv's but as the scene is constantly changing and evolving I was hoping for some clarification from the experts here.
I've read many times that the Xbox 1 CAN play HD Video.
I've read many times that the XBox 1 CAN'T play mkv's.
The bulk of the HD content I've come across is mkv so I'm wondering what that leaves me with?
I did read a post in another forum (I've since lost the link and can't find it again) about people setting their Xbox up to load the XBMC Gui in one resolution but to play Video in a higher resolution to free up more memory. I've also read that you should try using the Low Quality Shader option. I've tried these and more but keep getting stutters.
So.......should I give up on trying to play mkv? Anybody got any tips on how I should tweak my settings? Any help is, as always, much appreciated!

Ive used both x264(720p) and h264(1080p), I usualy output in 720 and use the zoom function to sharpen up my images (its in settings appearance)

Looks like you're having no trouble there. Your video says you're playing from HDD and USB, have you had any luck streaming? I'm copying some mkv's to my HDD to see how they play onboard.

Ok I copied three 720p Movies directly to my Xbox's HDD and tried playing all three. All are stuttery and jittery. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. I'm using the build of XBMC that came with SID5 Pimped v7, I ran the T3CH Upgrader and it detected no new builds.
HD is enabled in XBMC and in M$ dash.
I've tried my XBMC GUI at multiple settings, I've tried outputting in various settings and none seem to work. I can't imagine what I'm doing wrong. Any thoughts, anyone?

Its gotta be the videos you are using, try this one it works fine for me
Video Codec: x264 CABAC
Video Bitrate: CRF 19 (3830Kbps average)
Video Aspect Ratio: 1.778:1
Video Resolution: 1280x720
Audio Codec: AAC-LC
Audio Bitrate: 160 Kbps ABR 48KHz
Audio Channels: 2
Run-Time: 59 mins
Framerate: 25FPS
Number of Parts: 1
Part Size: 1.64 GB
Source: HDTV
And so no one worries about copyright this video was funded in part by the Canadian Educational Film Tax Credit (BBC co-production) and as such one of the conditions is it has to be freely distributable. GPL licensing basicaly

I've just downloaded that and tried it on my XBOX without HD kit on the newest XBMC. Max FPS was 20 but the average was around 11. It was continually 'buffering...'

I have no trouble with it at all, makes no sense. The documentary I posted above starts around 1 minute in this video. I start with an HD MPEG4 Boardwalk Empire then switch to the Eddie Chapman MKV

I can't imagine what's wrong either. I'll try using MPlayer instead of DVDPlayer.

Might it be something to do with your softmod? You know I use a modchip with my working Xbox. Or maybe you have extra codecs in your DVDPlayer? When I played it, I saw in the top left on the info bar that FPS was around 8 and cpu was 100.00.

Give me all of the details on your video like region, resolution, refresh rate, etc.
