I have an xbox v1.1 in my posession which I bought used recently..it's acting up like freezing sometimes so I opened it up and saw it is hardmodded with a "chameleon" chip...wht does this chip do? I mean the xbox starts up normally to the ms dash
Haven't solved the freezing problem...thinking it's the mod chip that's causing it or maybe a dying PSU?

Should be a mod chip, try burning auto installer deluxe to a dvd -r and see if it will boot it.
If not you might need to flash the chip.
