I modded 1 of my xboxs yesterday with SplinterCell & SID5, I was trying to ftp Xsnes9X to it but didnt see an emu folder or nothing and stuck it in the root directory in C:, silly me, I tried to execute the snes9x XBE file and the xbox froze with the HDD unlocked.. I had to reboot, and now I get a error #5. So now how do I lock the harddrive?

Im pretty sure I did.. I cant exactly remember what all I backedup. The required backups before it would let you install, were all backedup.

Yes, I was ftping beforehand, just forgot to lock it back.
Why are u unlocking ur hard drive to FTP I still don't get it? And when you backed it up did u FTP those backups to pc? If not u have a nice journey ahead.
Nevermind, you need to use a hard modded xbox or xboxhdmaker and you need to have EEPROM.bin on your pc.

Ok so you got your backups but did you move them to a PC before the HDD error blacked you out?

First off, let me say, I have modded an xbox before, but not with SID, I used Krazy's nDure mod with Mechassault on one of my older boxes I sold to get a 360 in 2006.. I didnt have any problems with that..
This is the first time using SID... I have 2 xbox's this time, one bought in a Traders Guide, and one from Gamestop, the one from the traders guide had a bad DVD Drive and failed before I could do the mod, and the gamestop one is the one that im talking about being unlocked.. luckly I had modded it and everything worked, then got locked out... I tried swapping the DVD Drive into the Traders guide xbox and it read disks so I modded that one two (which is hanging after the first screen, where its supposed to be loading Evox, still plays disks though).
Ok, if you got lost in all that...lol, here is what I got:
1 box unlocked with #5 error
1 box wont boot unleashX menu (for some reason it starts and freezes SID logo) But I can still play games on it, aslong as the disk is in it before it goes to load the menu.
All that because of trying to install Xsnes9x..
And to the guys wondering why I unlocked the HD to FTP, I thought I read somewhere years ago that it had to be unlocked.. And to answer about did I transfer any of the backups to the PC.. No
Ok for the "traders" box try to reinstall sid using the game exploit but try xbmc as dash and use the dual boot method with hacked dash/installer menu. while ur there FTP into ur box and save e:/backup folder to pc before u install sid. I recommend sid 5 on the aid disc. As for "gamestop" box you have 3 options
1. Build an EEPROM reader
2. Install a mod chip
3. Gut the gamestop box for parts
If you go the EEPROM route there's a great link with diagrams and part list on this site and if one of our wonderfly helpful moderators will post it as I suck at creating links (thanks guys).
If you install a mod chip, u can boot the xbox weather the hd is locked or not. From there you can FTP ur EEPROM to pc and use config magic to lock it. I recommend x3 from xecutor.
Which ever u decide as it sits there's not much u can do without EEPROM so take it as a sh*tty lesson to always have EEPROM on pc 1st before u mod.
Let us know what u do and we can help.
