About a year ago I put an Xecuter 2.6 Lite CE in my xbox. Its been workin fine and I got a 40GB HD to put in it. But for some reason lately, it has been acting up and having spazz attacks. I boot it up and it just gets stuck at the xecuter config live loading.... screen. The lights flash green and red the whole time and its just stuck at that screen. But if i keep pressing the power button on and off it will randomly boot right up normally like it should.
About a 3 weeks ago i took it apart because this problem was buggin my guts and i checked all connections, none of which were loose, and i put it all back together and it worked fine until now. Im half tempted to take it apart again....the insides are spotless as i take very good care of it. None of the cables are damaged which makes me come down to thinking it may be the HD i put in it. I got it from a computer at a church rummage sale and the computer was working fine. I have no clue what this could be. Any ideas?
Thanks

Welcome to the HQ network
Have you tried the HDD in a PC after you put it in the xbox ?
Details about the xbox?
After I made the HDD work with my xbox, i never tried connecting it with a pc, no. What would that do exactly? anyways i got rid of my old PC haha. i got an iMac since i put that HDD in.
It could possibly be the that the HDD is failing...lol never thought of that. The reason i use the HDD is because my DVD drive is pretty much screwed and i need a new one. I can barely copy DVDs to the HDD, let alone play a game. eh, maybe i need to just break down and spend $60 on a new dvd drive. Haha i guess i will lose all my games i put on there then...oh well. If any of you are into TPB, check out this guy's channel: Titi26 Hes got a bunch of goodies

I would guess he is talking about the loss of games due to a failing hdd crackface not a failing DVD drive.

haha okay. i figured it out. i was playing COD 3 the other day and my box just started squeaking. it was very faint, but i put my ear up to it and it was coming from right where the HDD was located. Then the game totally froze when it was loading a level and i couldn't get the xbox to start back up. LOL! i guess i need a new hard drive.
Hmm...does anyone know of a good site to buy new DVD drives? preferably the samsung one....but ill take anything at this point.
I was thinking of just buyin a regular old DVD drive and a power splitter and tryin to make it work that way...cuz a new xbox DVD drive is like $60. =/
Haha yea i prolly wont back up my game saves...its just not worth that much money time and effort.
Thanks for any and all help guys.

a regular dvd drive won't work, the xbox dvd lens uses a special decoding process to decrypt the security sectors from the game dvd's,
Im guessing it is possible, but not worthwhile because you would have to leave your xbox laying in pieces for you to play it. =/
okay, another question. i switched back to my old xbox HDD, the one it came with. I put in Half-Life 2 and it took like 3 years to read the fricken disc. THen i put the problematic HDD back in and the game loaded just fine. How can the type of HDD change the way the DVD drive reads the discs? does this make any sense at all? its makin me mad because now i need a new DVD drive and a new HDD.....oh well its worth it

the stock xbox hdd is a 5400 rpm drive, ur new one is probably a 7200 rpm one, which will have a faster load time, and the game is probably cached on the new one, and not the old one, the cache gets replaced after a while with a new game, i think there's only like 4
