I was wandering if anyone had thought up the idea top make a PS3-HQ. I just recently (friday) bought one, and it seems like a modders dream man, seriously. I also have lots of questions about the system itself.
I have already installed a version linux (Yellow Dog Linux) and its pretty cool, except im not sure how to connect to my home network with the built in wireless.
Simple questions like that, taht people might have would be a good reason to create a PS3-HQ. IF theres just not enough time i can understand that, but if you guys have time to set this up i will help as much as possible, which may not be much as i have to work a lot now.

Hobb's is the man you would need to talk to about this idea bro and his taking a small brake from the sites, other then that i don't feel one way or the other about it since i know nothing of the PS3 except that they cant get there firmware out on the first try. LOL
I do know that even with the PS1 and 2 it seemed the support sites were few and far between.

I tried to read up on this at one time but all I found was that you could get linux to run on them pretty easy and with some tweaks here and there you could get several different flavors of linux to work. the problem was Sony didn't release any info about the video drivers or processor. About the best it can do as far as home brew goes was less than a 800Mhz Pentium for speed and with the eqivilant to a less than stock onboard pc graphics setup most folks didn't bother with trying to develop for it. Sony said it would do home brew right out of the box, but you are not able to use everything under the hood. They basicaly took six of eight spark plugs out and said here you go see if you can get it to run.
Right now the X-box gets more useable power than the PS3 for home brew and emulation.
But that info I'm talking about is probably out dated and I sold my PS3 so I don't keep up with it anymore. _________________

My understandin wsa that for a linux emu to run on a PS3 that it had to be compiled with a paticular compiler and Sony has not released the libraries for proper comunication with the processor or the video hardware.
I'm not a programer but I think that is close to what I read about it. I think I read that they had linux version of a Zsnes EMU running on a PS3 but it was realy to slow to play and enjoy.
But like I said I haven't kept up with it and I sold My PS3.

If any plans for a PS3-HQ are approved, you can count me in. I've had mine for months and months now and always like the idea of the HQ network supporting it.
I'll chat with FH, see what the score is. I know he's a very busy guy though.

I dunno, Xbox 360 > PS3
I highly doubt HQ Network will ever have a ps3 site. _________________
