I just got another xbox(the wife is going mad right now ), and it had the ice chip in it, but some brilliant mind put the xecuter m8v1.6 bios on it, so I cannot use the menu settings on the chip itself(it boots to the screen, but I have no control on choosing options), so what I would like to do is reflash the chip with the new bios that came with AID for both the boot and recovery side of things. Can somebody spoon feed me ??? Can I just flash the boot bios, then flip the switch to recovery and flash that side or how do I go about doing this. Remember, I cannot choose options on the xenium boot screen, so I cannot do a http flash of the chip. I wish there a tut on the AID disk for this chip to go along with the bios. or I'm blind

Will the xbox boot the aid disk?
If you cant find a way in to the chip you may need a reprogrammer.

oh ya, the xbox boots fine, and suprisingly enough it works quite well with the m8v6 bios, considering it's a v5 xbox. I think he did put a 256 bios for the regular m8 +132hd bios on it as well, but when I check the aid disk, I don't see the bios for the xenium, just the xecuter and yoshi bios. I put all bios updates on the ISO before I burnt it, I was just wondering how I take the hd install, and flash both banks properly for this modchip, just put the two bios on the hd, use the bios update tool, and flash both at the same time or how does this work? Thanks Wes

I know from experience that the xenium OS menu will not work with some 3rd party controllers (i.e. madcatz, logitec, etc), so the menu would appear to be inactive. Try an official MS controller.
I would not mess with recovery on the xenium chip. If you want, remove the yoshi bios from the boot select menu, and flash a xecuter x2 bios on there. The m8 bios you have is actually team evox, not xecuter, just to clear up confusion.
Flashing the bios is really easy with the xenium, just place bios's in c:\bios folder, and select new launch application from the xenium os.
I know this is alot to take in, so let me know if you need further explanations on anything. First thing to try, an official MS controller.
edit: oh yeah, forgot to mention, there is no such thing as a xenium bios. The Xecuter x2 and the m8 bios are two of the most highly recommended bios's out there that would work for you. _________________

ah, the controller would explain some problems, I'll try that. Now with it being a v1.5 xbox, which would be better to flash with
1)evox.m8plus.fc.137
2)x2.5035.137
and should I use the 1m flash(I think I can flash two 1mb files on it)
I have a 200gb hd in it so that's why I'm choosing the 137 files.
And what is the XeniumOS 2.3.1 (hdd installer added with the AID package for?
Thanks for the info and help!

I have both of those bios's on my xenium chip. You would probably hear from me and a lot of other people, use the X2 5035. It has a ini that you can configure post flash. It is the bios I use most often with the xenium. You chip does have a 2mb bank, but the x2 bios is 512k, and the m8 is 256k. So flash to the proper bank!
The xenium os 2.3.1 is the updated version of the xenium os. You will need to place the files in a specific folder, and flip the recovery switch. I had trouble with it the first time I updated the OS, after following all the instructions to the 't', my xbox wouldn't boot, and I had to hot swap modchips. I really don't recommend doing it. _________________

you say that the x2 is 512kb and the m8 is 256, in the AID bios files it has these two listed in the 1mb folder, is there something different about these ones. These were the two I was going to flash to the chip if possible. Oh ya, and how do I switch banks, just the switch to recovery mode after boot-up and flash, or is there a selection in the main os screen. And thanks for the warning about the xenium os . My duox3 was simple enough cuz' I knew it was 256mb for each bank, that I had a switch for. That's why there are so many little questions about this chip. I went to the website, but not to much info, and very short answers to their problems, That's why I'm asking here.
Thanks again.

Hmm, i'll have to check the aid disk myself. The bios files could be mirrored, to take up 1028k, I'll have to check it out to be sure. If you do happen to flash a wrong bios, you can always just overwrite the bank. No need for a re-programmer.
And yes, the bank select menu is all in the os. Fairly straight forward when you get to explore the menus. No switches to flip. _________________

Thanks so much for the help, I'll give it a whirl tonight with the 1mb flashes, and I have the .pdf v8 file on how use the ice for flashing(breif input, but it's there).
Thanks as always.

ok, I flashed the chip with the new evox, and the chip boots fine , but in the os screen, I did not see an option to switch banks, or do I just flash the x2 bios, and choose the default to be one or the other?

Yeah, I guess you just add a new item, and the chip knows where the bios should go. Then you just select what default bios you want. Currently my launch menu contains:
Retail Kernel
EvoX
x2_5035
So I take it you were using a third party controller? _________________

ya, it was a third party controller, had to dig up my original with a broken wire in it somewhere to get things going, just a little wiggle and all went well. Thanks for the info
