1. I purchased a xenium gold awhile ago to install in a friends xbox...long story short the chip was defective and i know this since i put my xenium in his box and it worked just fine and then i ran recovery on both and was able to update my chip but not the gold...and by putting his chip in my working xbox it did not work...so i chaulked that up as a loss
2. When I bought my original xenium ice i had bought two and gave one to a friend but he never used his....so i grabbed his and put it in my friends xbox and all i get is a black screen and no eject....by looking at the troubleshooting guide i began to think again that maybe i screwed something up but i popped in my chip and everything worked fine but when i put the ice chip in my box it gave me a blank screen, ect.
Do you guys have any idea what is going on? I have spent over $100 on chips for this kid and still don't have a working xbox.
I must also state that this is my 8th xbox using xenium chips so it is not like this is my first mod. I have checked and rechecked everything and now im lost. Also, if i remove everything from my friends xbox everything works fine. Thanks. _________________ Xbox V1.6

If the chips really old it may have gone bad. _________________

How does a chip go bad? It's not food. It was stored in the sealed static bag and came with the one that I have been using in my box for quite a long time. _________________ Xbox V1.6

I noticed you replied to my post pezzar, however, I was posting here with the hopes that someone else experienced the same problem. I have been unsuccessful in recovering the chip. I have replied to your questions on TX _________________ Xbox V1.6

Electronics can go bad over time, not saying it did, just putting the idea out there. _________________

generally the ICE and the Gold emit a bright bluish/white colour on the led if its fried. When running recovery mode on both chips does the led cycle colours at all. What is the colour of the eject led?
its safe to say its not the adapter install at fault you confirmed this. The issue is with the chip and its OS i suspect. Did you ftp the recovery file through the dash ftp server or the OS ftp server.
what version OS recovery are you using? try using the recover to defaults to clear the chips

They do not cycle colors. For the ice I know the eject led stays a solid orange. I am attempting to use the OS version 2.3.1 by ftp'ing via flash fxp once I have booted my xbmc dash. Both recover and recover to defaults has been used with no luck. Is there some step I am missing or was there a lack of QC? I have posted with greater detail on TX. _________________ Xbox V1.6

Unless there is some extra step you have to do to unlock the hdd other than going to the xenium os screen, disk tools, unlock hdd it is unlocked and don't have a clue as to how i got so lucky to have an ice and a gold become corrupted right out of the box when I have had so many successful attempts in the past _________________ Xbox V1.6
