i was looking into a xenium gold chip. im about to mod my friends box...its an 1.0 box, but since its not mine, i want to use the solderless adaptor. ive never installed a chip with a solderless adaptor, so one of my questions is, do they work well? does like the d0 point stay in there pretty well. also, is there maybe a better chip that works well with a solderless adaptor like any of the xecuter chips?
question #2
what is the process of flashing xenium chips? (i have never owned one)
(usb, parallel port, cd?) can you flash from the auto-installer disk?
if so i might need help in the near future flashing the chip.
thanks

either the Gold or the executer X3 are good chips.

both the X3 and the Gold can be flashed by
CD
HDD
USB
HTTP.
I have a Xenium Gold and i have no problems. On a v1.0 with a Xenium solderless adapter and chip i would solder the removable D0 loom and use that as the D0 hook is sometimes a bit fiddly

on the adaptor or the motherboard.
i dont mind soldering the pin header...i just dont like to solder the small thin d0 on the motherboard. is that what you are referring to (that solder point on the motherboard)
thanks

another question
when flashing either of these chips...you said they can be flashed with usb...so does that mean you can get a programmer for the Xenium gold?
I have never flashed using a cd, ftp, or a hdd...i have only done it pc-based programs.
i would like to learn the other ways...would you guys be willing to walk me through that in the neat future when the time comes? or direct me to a tutorial on how to?
thanks

you can actually just type in the xbox IP address and flash it that way from your pc. _________________

i just read that on a tutorial i just found. sounds easy.
so is the Xenium OS a bios that comes stock on the chip, or is it a application that stays on the chip that is used for versatility in flashing the chip?
thanks

i never mentioned the pin header. install the solderless adapter but solder the removable D0 loom and use the underside D0 point its easier to solder too
the xenium os is not a bios its an operating system

so every time you boot your box, does it come up first before the dash? this is of course after the dash is installed.

booting using the eject button will always load xenium OS.
set up quick boot or instant boot and this offers the ability to bypass the OS and boot straight to a bios/dash

the D0 hook is the gold hook wire on the xenium solderless adapter.
the D0 loom is the plug with the black and the blue wires connected
read the latest spiceguide and it is all detailed in there
