here goes: i have just bought an xbox, preowned. guess its old as it has the thompson dvd drive. i've softmodded it and got xbmc on it (kudos hellblazer!). its just that it wont play my dvd+r's and struggles to play a dvd-r.
the good news is i have my old xbox (which is actually newer) and it has a better dvd drive...philips maybe. i cant use it as it has an error 13 - some other time - but its dvd drive plays my dvd r's no problem.
so can i exchange the drives? no compatibility issues? what do i need to do? thanks,
Mike
(i know there's something simiilar is a few posts down, but this is a little different, i have two functioning drives and just want to exchange the crappy one for the good one).

You would download the AID3.0 image and the 3.04 update. Update the ISO,
burn the ISO to a DVD-R and drop it into the xbox, cold reboot, and you should be fine. _________________
so thats all there is to it? my xbox wont recognise the dvd-r i think, as its not hard modded. what appened was i deleted the e drive in an act of stupidity, so i got an error 13. i need to reinstall thar e drive. if i burn the image will my old xbox recognise it? if all hopes lost can i harvest the parts to improve my new xbox? appreciate the replys. mike
