I have the Xecuter 3 modchip installed. It boots up to the flash bios.

I tried using the HTTP flash bios. That failed. It gies me the "halted" message.

I tried the 3.03 version that can be downloaded from this site(non-VIP)

Then I tried using the Disk option. I tried both a Memorex CD-R and a DVD-R. I followed the tutorial and created a 100MB dummy file to allow the xbox to even read the disk. I set all of the settings like the tutorial said.

When I inserted the disk it reads the disk then ejects it and says "insert flach CD"

Please help. I'm quickly getting the urge to hit this thing with a hammer.

Note: I have the external switch set to On,On,Off,Off,Off

Is the bios image on the disc named bios.bin? If its not, FlashBios won't recognize it.

Edit: oh and by the way, make sure the flash protect switch on the chip itself is off, not just the switch panel.

Yep, that's it. I just read one of the tutorials and it shows screenshots of the different things 3.01 flashbios will say when booting.

One of them is "Read Only".

I thought I set the switch right on the chip. Guess not Sad

Something weird is up. I switched the Switch on the chip the other way.

Now when powered up the LED on the chip is red. Right on the chip is says that this means it is protected.

But when I look at the boot screen it doesn't say read only. Just to check I switched the front panel switch to read protect and the boot said it was in read protect mode.

Has anyone else noticed the LEDs red/green are backwards?

Yeah.

I put the latest X3 bios on it.

I couldn't get it to flash via disc though. I just used the HTTP method.

Now I have the XMBC dash installed.
