I have a 1.6b xbox without an original harddrive (it broke).
I bought an Xecuter 2.6 solderless modchip so I can put in a larger harddrive.
I have the xaptr in. The system boots the standard BIOS until it gets to the Microsoft screen with an 07 error. Probably complaing about not having a proper hard drive.
If I put the mod chip ontop of the adapter and turn it off I get the same effect as above. I would expect this.
The problem happens when i turn the chip on. When I power up, the xbox immediately powers down, powers up again, powers down again, powers up again, then flashes red+green.
Anyone have any hints for me? Thanks in advance.

be sure the solderless adaptor is seated against the motherboard firmly. Also check and double check that you have the pin in the right place for the d0. _________________

I have double checked those and they seem to be right. D0 should be right because when I switch on the chip, it doesn't boot the standard bios?
Does the modchip require me to have the HD locked or have the orig HD?
I need to get the cromwell screen

The chip shouldn't care if the drive is locked or not. Is the chip flashed already with cromwell? Do all the lights on the xapter light up? _________________
All the lights light up on the adapter. The instructions I have say they should all be green, but they are red-red-amber-green. I have looked at other instructions somewhere and thot that my adapter was just different and that red-red-amber-green was ok.
I don't know if the chipped was flashed with cromwell or not. I just ordered the solderless kit from mod-chip.com and assumed they would put the loader program on it. Having to buy a chip programmer now would suck >.<

Since you have a 1.6B xbox you need the 1.6 xapt3r, just want to confirm that is what you have.
What instruction did you use for install of the xapt3r?
I followed a text version of that. The adapter seems to be working properly since I can boot the normal xbox bios with it in, but without the mod chip on.
Is the on/off/on/off/on red+green flashing a tip as to what is happening?

If all the lights are coming on, then its installed properly. The booting properly when the chip off does not necessarily mean its working, just that the D0 point is connected properly.
Do you know if the chip is pre-flashed? Its possible the chip does not have the cromwell on it.
Do you have any other chipped boxes? _________________
I have another chipped box that I had done years ago. I don't know what kind of chip is in it, nor what version it is. Are you thinking I should test the mod chip out in the other chipped box?

Yup, since you know that xbox and install work, try the chip on that xbox and if it frags its the chip. Either the chip is bad or it was not flashed by whoever sold you. _________________
