Hey guys, I was surprised to hear that there is a ps2 softmod. After installing this mod, you can play backup games. A guy had done it on the ps2, i went to his house checked it out, it works. He wont tell me how to do it for apparent reasons. He wants to make money out of it. Does anyone actually know whether this actually exists and help me find it, give me a link or something? _________________

i'll leave it out, i was thinking something of this sort would replace modifying the ps2 with a chip like the xbox. Like xbox tsop can be flashed, or softmodding it easily instead of modchiping it . _________________

that would be swap magic or a modchip or softmod, theres no tsop flashing at all for ps2. _________________

yea but i dont really like the idea of a swap magic, having to eject the thing manually. lol, no wonder they didnt make a ps2-hq.com. PS2 is nothing compared to the XBOX. _________________

I researched this awhile back and was very interested in doing it but came to the conclusion that a chip was the best route....I don't remember specifically what the downfalls were but I looked into it pretty heavily (numerous hours of reading and finding the correct files to download)....I even ordered a chip but haven't gotten around to putting it in since its soooo much more intimidating than the xbox...and it doesn't even have a good homebrew backing...if you do complete this project please report back your findings...I, myself would greatly appreciate it and I am sure all the other members with ps2's would as well...later. _________________ Xbox V1.6

Thats the only link i found that i still had on my computer.....just real general...if you google it there is a forum thread that is like 20 pages long discussing it i just don't remember where its from that convinced me not to softmod and to just do chip if im going to do it...later. _________________ Xbox V1.6

I have hdAdvanced 3.0 (rip of hddloader) and added a pull n and out hdd to it and its a brezze. No CHIP, NO prgrams to put on ps2, and just load games on hard drive with Winhiip and slide back in ps2 (BIG ONE NOT SLIM).
HdAdvance 3.0 is a disk u put in drive it reads and shows you what games are on the hdd and u play from there. HHDLOADER is same program but takes a few steps to get exploit on the hdd so it can be launched. It works with about 90% of game that have come out. For ease I say use HDA3.0 and for cheap ppl but some skill on readin and understanding tuts use hddloader 8e.
