just got a xenium gold. Very Happy ! However all the pics in the manuals look nothing like mine. I've located the DO pin, but I don't know where the other 4 wires go because the template doesn't fit properly. What do i do??? Crying or Very sad My box is version 1.0

Here are pics of my board:

Since I am pretty positive we do not have a Gold install tut on this site, I'll link to this one:

http://www.xbox-modchips.com/tutorials/xodus-sp-solderless-tutorial.htm

I'm unsure what four wires you are talking about since I have yet to even look at this chip yet alone install one. If the chip came with some extra wiring harness of some sort, it may just be something you dont need. I looked at this tutorial and I do not see anything with four extra wires.

Hope this helps a little. I am also wondering if you do not need to use the particular adapter that you are using as it looks like it's the adapter for the 1.6 board.

Thanks but i already read that. It seems it's too new to have a manual yet. The second pic shows the 4 wires i was referring to.

Oh, I see. The metal prongs on the adapter. I was thinking you actually had separate wires left over.

It just seems that you are using the wrong adapter for the version motherboard. In the link I provided you, the very first picture says (put back in box, adapter only for 1.6 motherboard).

Just pull that white adapter off and seat the chip ontop of the black adapter that is already installed on your board. Now, keep in mind I have not seen the Xenium Gold so am unsure how it seats to begin with. However, the Xenium Ice mod chip would just sit right onto the black adapter for versions 1.0 to 1.5 motherboards.

For version 1.6 boards you would use the white adapter. This has to be why those four prongs do not have a home Wink

Yeah, you got the wrong adapter with your chip. It's very important to specify to the seller the version mobo you have, or else you'll end up in a situation like this. Just do as Ice says, though and you should be fine.

I re-seated the adapter 3 times and cleaned contacts. Still no go. The red led light on the chip is on but i can't eject dvd and no audoi/video.

Do I gots me a bad chip???

P.S...

My adapter came with ALL the pins. I removed the pins as per the pictures. Should I have done this?

Are the pins all the way into the lpc? This is what yours should look like except you have a gold.

Thanx Guys! I really appreciate all the help. I just got back from radio shack with soldering pen and am going to remove solder from LPC port and am going to install rivets.

This is what you need. There is no guide for the Xeniumn Gold. Use this guide and just follow the instructions for the 1.0 -1.5 versions. First thing you need to do is remove that white adapter and use the other one that came with the chip.
