“I was alarmed at how gamers shrugged their shoulders and had no problem with government game regulation,” says a rep involved with a recent poll on games regulation.

A study released by New York-based PR firm Hill & Knowlton and conducted by Opinion Research found that 60 percent of consumers polled agreed that the government should regulate the sale of games deemed mature or violent.

Fifty-one percent of the 1,150 Americans polled online said that the government should outright control mature content that goes into games.

More surprising is how evenly split current gamers were regarding government regulation. Forty-four percent said yes to government regulation of mature content, 47 percent said no.

Fifty-five percent of gamers polled during the survey (conducted between September 17 and 19) agreed the government should regulate the sales of mature and violent games.
