Publisher Take-Two has confirmed the source of a leak of a play-test version of Manhunt 2.
Back in September, an unrated European play-test version of Manhunt 2 for PlayStation 2 was leaked online. In a brief statement to GamePolitics, publisher Take-Two has said that the leak originated from a Sony Computer Entertainment Europe employee.
“Take-Two Interactive has confirmed that a former employee of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) has acknowledged his responsibility for the unauthorized online distribution of an unrated play-test version of Manhunt 2 submitted for the European PAL PlayStation 2 computer entertainment system.”
According to the report, the leak led to the termination of the employee’s contract.
Manhunt 2 has been denied a UK rating by the British Board of Film Classification on two occasions due to its “unremitting bleakness and callousness of tone,” banning the title from release.
