Microsoft Unveils Xbox Arcade Roster

October 14, 2005 - Giving old-school, casual, and hardcore gamers an extra treat along with their Xbox 360 this November, Microsoft plans to revive a near-dead arcade market with its next-generation console in a manner unlike any previous manufacturer.

Microsoft unveiled the full roster of games it plans to bring to market in the launch window from November 22 to the end of December, consisting of 21 games, and the support of 40-plus publishers.

Tapping into Midway's Treasure chest, gamers can play will deliver Robotron 2084, Joust (in HD no less), and SmashTV, while Microsoft is working with Tetris creator Alexey Pajitnov to bring a new puzzler, Hexic HD to all 360 fans. Hexic will be available to every consumer who buys the $399 version, or the separate hard drive, since it's bundled with the detachable storage unit. Other major partners include Sega, Atari, Capcom, Hudson Soft, Konami, Namco, Q Entertainment, Ubisoft, Electronic Arts, and Vivendi Universal Games.
