Creating extreme-style racing games is a daunting task, but one that has paid off big time for studios lately. Games like those in EA’s Burnout and Need for Speed series, and Rockstar’s Midnight Club deliver something a over-the-top to the racing crowd without introducing weapons into the fray as in a vehicular combat title.

 

Developers Bugbear and Vivendi are the latest entrants into the extreme racing market with the aptly titled FlatOut. Attitude and innovation abound in FlatOut, but does it have what it takes to boost past the tuner titles and into racing fans’ living rooms?
